SUMMIT is a publication curated by students of the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Our goal is to exhibit Umary’s artistic creations and to ignite a culture of beauty within our community. We feature photography, painting, creative writing, drawings, design, illustrations, poetry, and anything you can hit us with.

Editorial Board

Lindsey Baufield is from Lino Lakes, MN. She is a Junior Communications major with English and Catholic Studies minors. She is very passionate about mission work, the outdoors, traveling, cooking, and of course, art. She pursues photography, painting, drawing, and admires many other mediums of art. In addition to Summit, she is involved in FOCUS and Marauders Activity Club here on campus.

Elizabeth Morris is a junior English major with minors in Philosophy and Catholic Studies. Originally from South Dakota, Elizabeth was homeschooled most of her life before coming to UMary and hopefully continuing on to other creative fields. Her interests include film, painting, creative writing, and music.

Julia Pearson is a senior Communication and Public Relations major at the University of Mary. Her love for helping people fuels her passion to one day be an advocate for the less fortunate among us. She originally comes from a small town in Minnesota where she admires the abundance of beautiful lakes. In her free time, you will find Julia spending time with her family, playing tennis or baking a scrumptious desserts. As a Communication major, Julia believes art and design is an important aspect in life. As she says, “art and design is the lens which exposes the way other people experience beauty.”

Bekah Smith is a senior at UMary originally from Anza California. She is a Media production major in the Communications program. She enjoys design, fashion, traveling and film. You can usually find her behind a camera or drinking one too many cups of coffee.

Chris Thedinga grew up in the Twin Cities area and attended Holy Family Catholic High School. He is a marketing major, and spends his time playing baseball for the University of Mary. He also enjoys listening to independent musicians and watching college athletics.
