SUMMIT is a publication curated by students of the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Our goal is to exhibit UMary’s artistic creations and to ignite a culture of beauty within our community. We feature photography, painting, creative writing, drawings, design, illustrations, poetry, and anything you can hit us with.

Lindsey Baufield is a Senior at UMary from the Twin Cities. Majoring in Communication with a concentration in PR, with minors in English and Catholic Studies, she is interested in the environmental conservation and hiking, and “making sure our habits don’t poorly effect the earth”. Her hobbies include cooking and painting, and she especially likes photography, because she likes to help people see the world in a different way.

John Brickweg is a junior at UMary from the Twin Cities. He is majoring in Communication: Media Production with minors in Art and Catholic Studies. He is interested in history, going to art museums, and hosting events with friends, and “helping everyone find some light in life.” His hobbies include singing with his friends, exploring local coffee shops, and creating short films with his friends.

Regina Zabinski is a sophomore in Media Production from Isanti, MN. Her interests include Latin American history and watching the Twins play. Regina loves writing, and she has a great interest in journalism, because “the most exciting stories are found in the people next door.”

Elizabeth Morris is a senior English major with a minor Catholic Studies. She’s from Gary, SD, and loves to watch movies and listen to music. Her favorite ways to create are creative writing and painting, because they help her understand the world around her and see beauty in everything.

Claire Pikul is from Downers Grove, IL. She is a junior Communications major with an emphasis in media production and an art minor. She is interested in old trucks, ceramics, and the Pro-life movement. Her craft includes photography and ceramics. “It first started out as an outlet, but then it grew into a passion that is a part of who I am.”

Chris Franz is from Mandan, ND. He is the faculty advisor for Summit and teaches for the Communication department. Chris is currently learning to play both piano and chess (not at the same time).
